Nominations for the 2025 WPA Awards are now open. The WPA annual awards shine a light on excellence in the production, sale and use of treated wood and is a showcase for good practice in our industry.

Nominations are called for in the following categories:

Treated wood champion: an award made to an individual which recognises outstanding commitment to personal development and the advancement of wood protection expertise in their place of work.’

Best use of treated wood award: for any construction project in the UK or overseas that utilises wood treated with a preservative, a flame retardant or wood modification process. The project can be of any size and in progress or completed in the past two years.

Best use of treated wood in landscaping: for any landscaping project in the UK or overseas that utilises wood treated with a preservative, a flame retardant or wood modification process. The project can be of any size and in progress or completed in the past two years.
Two further awards – for WPA Benchmark treater of the year and Best kept treatment plant – will be conferred by the independent auditors of the WPA Benchmark quality assurance schemes.
The awards will be presented at our Annual Awards evening on 7 May at the Oulton Hall Hotel, Leeds. This event is followed by our annual half day conference on 8 May at the same venue
This two-day event is the UK wood protection sector’s annual opportunity to meet face-to-face, discuss developments and opportunities, be inspired, hear about trends, look to the future and celebrate achievements. It features:

Curtain raiser events: A choice of taking part in a 9-hole and an 18 hole golf competition, or a wine tasting event

A drinks reception, BBQ dinner, awards presentation and entertainment from comedian Jamie Sutherland

Our conference, with the theme Future-Proofing Demand for Correctly Treated Wood. This half-day event will feature expert speakers talking about how our industry can future-proof demand for preservative treated wood, including Gareth Nicholls, Head of Timber Category, MKM Building Supplies; Paul Pennick, Procurement Director, H&B Buying Group; Ed Suttie, Head of Consultancy, BRE; and Fredrik Westin from the European Wood Protection Association (formerly WEI)
